Mental Performance addresses the psychology of sport performance. Mental performance plays a key role in a sport environment for all involved, from individual athletes, teams, coaches and parents. Not only do our athletes need to physically train, but they also need to mentally train. Mental training enables our athletes to develop the skills necessary to address motivation and goal setting; focus and concentration; handling pressure and dealing with nerves; and building self-confidence in both training, competition and everyday life.

On Thursday, March 2, from 4-5pm at the Northern Sports Centre the Prince George Ski Club will be meeting with Carl Nienhuis, Mental Performance Consultant, for a 1 hour presentation focused on the following topics.

• Fostering a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset
• Techniques to manage anxiety/stress, emotion and distraction
• Techniques to improve confidence

Carl has specialized in the topics noted above and has worked with various other clubs in the past including a number of Team BC teams.

The club cost of the session is $10/athlete, payable to the Prince George Ski Club. The presentation is open to athletes U10 and up.

Please RVSP by Saturday, February 25th if you are interested in attending.
